07.08.202612:06:19UTC+00Mexico Auto Exports Fall Again in July

Mexico’s automobile exports fell 9.7% year-on-year to 261,534 units in July 2026, following a 9.2% decline in June. The continued drop reflects persistent uncertainty in the auto sector, as shifting U.S. trade policies cloud manufacturers’ export strategies.

In his second term, U.S. President Trump imposed a series of tariffs on multiple countries, including Mexico. The Trump administration also opted not to renew the USMCA. Under the agreement’s terms, it will remain in force for another decade unless a member formally withdraws, but it is now subject to annual reviews that could result in substantial changes. At the same time, the United States and Mexico are engaged in ongoing bilateral trade negotiations.

Export volumes fell sharply for several automakers, including Mercedes (-97.7%), Nissan (-75.6%), Mazda (-35.4%), and Honda (-21.3%).
